James Wood
Founder of IAB
James C. Wood began his career in 1966. In 1972 he started working in the home office of a then small company and supervised a number of different departments working closely with the Owner and the President. When he left the company after almost 10 years, he was Senior Vice President and Director of Sales. The Company became a multi-state and multi-million dollar company and currently remains a leader in providing association benefits for the self-employed and the small business person. His tenure with the company laid the foundation for his next venture in the Association industry.
In 1981 Mr. Wood became President and part owner of United Group Agencies. This company was instrumental in forming, managing and marketing membership associations such as the National Association for the Self Employed (NASE). This organization became one of the largest membership associations in the country having hundreds of thousands of members in just a few short years and plays a significant leadership role in this field to this day.
After a major change in ownership in 1983, Mr. Wood formed and became owner and President of James Wood Associates and later International Marketing Agencies, Inc. (IMA). IMA has been a well known and respected marketing company since that time making available association benefits for hundreds of thousands of individuals. Because of Mr. Wood's vast experience in the association industry he envisioned a comprehensive association for American families and especially for the self-employed and small business person. Because of this vision, the International Association of Benefits (IAB) was launched in the 1980's and has become a leader in affordable memberships and has an outstanding record throughout its 26 plus year history. Mr. Wood's goal is to make these benefits of IAB available and affordable to all American families so that all can have access to various savings and benefits for which they could not ordinarily afford nor qualify. Also, Mr. Wood's goal is to provide a platform on which IAB Associates can build a successful career for themselves and their families.
Mr. Wood has two sons. Josh works closely with IAB as a Financial Advisor in the Lake Tahoe area and Jacob, as President, manages IAB's marketing and sales operation at IAB's administrative offices in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area. Mr. Wood and his lovely wife, Tressa, reside in Dallas, Texas dividing their time between the Dallas area and their home and office at Lake Tahoe. While one of their greatest pleasures is visiting with IAB Associates and Members, Mr. & Mrs. Wood enjoy boating on Lake Tahoe and hiking in the summer and skiing in the winter.
